A packed house is the norm at newcomer Piva, located on the ground floor of the Anvil Centre. There, the open decor matches the modern menu, which puts a fresh spin on Italian dishes, among them duck and fig wood-fired pizza, wild boar and morel mushroom meatballs, and beet and kale salad, as well as veggie and vegan options.

Bite Me Vancouver
Have you ever walked out of a restaurant after dining and thought “Damn, now that’s a place I’ll be back at!”? On the weekend I celebrated my birthday and was fortunate enough to celebrate it at Piva Modern Italian for lunch, located in the heart of Downtown New Westminster. The beautifully designed layout with the high-end service to match it makes this restaurant one of a kind in New Westminster.

“We’re going to start doing specials every month” says executive chef Subraaz Abdullah of Piva, New Westminster’s Italian restaurant that opened in December 2017. Describing a pop-up menu that will focus on a specific region in Italy and its food each month, Abdullah is clearly excited about the quality of cuisine that Piva is bringing to the city.

Vancouver Is Awesome
One of the newest restaurants to open up in New Westminster is Piva, a modern Italian restaurant located on the ground floor of the impressive cultural hub, the Anvil Centre. Piva has been drawing raves from locals and discerning Vancouver foodies, and more and more independent eateries and local chains are taking a chance on business in New West.

With it’s central downtown setting inside the Anvil Centre, Executive Chef Subraaz Abdullah leads the kitchen where he offers up a creative and flavourful menu of Modern Italian influenced fare. This beautiful fine dining restaurant offers a large open kitchen, high ceilings and a nice bar area.

Nosh & Nibble
It took awhile but it finally happened – polished Italian cuisine has arrived in downtown New Westminster. Situated inside the Anvil Centre, Piva is the new Italian hot spot hoping to satisfy your cravings of the old country. With offerings such as “For Nonna” and “For Nonno”, does the short and sweet menu cater to classic familial feelings?

Does the Royal City have a new entry into the must-visit-restaurants list? Living in the suburbs you learn things you took for granted in your city life—decent wine lists, for example—can be a little harder to come by. So I was understandably excited about the opening of Piva Modern Italian in New West. It’s a beautiful space with subway-tiled walls, a marble-topped bar and towering golden mirrored liquor shelving in behind.
