Meet our Executive Chef (& part owner), Subraaz Abdullah: Husband, father to a baby boy named Sky, lover of Italian food, passionate about cooking with fresh, high quality and local ingredients.
Subraaz has 15+ years of professional experience in the industry but he’s been cooking since he was in his teens, after being inspired by his parents.
Opening Piva Modern Italian is his lifelong dream come true.
His favourite part of cooking is seeing a smile on someone’s face once they’ve had a bite of his food and he hopes to see a smile on your face sometime soon.

Meet our Managing Partner & Wine Director, Christopher McFadden: Christopher has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant and wine business.
After joining the Wallier Stube Wine Bar at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Christopher trained formally with the International Sommelier Guild and then worked with the Oliver Bonacini Restaurants at Biff’s Bistro in Toronto. After that he spent some time with The Evergreen and Le Beaujolais restaurants in Banff, where he met his wonderful wife Joanne. Together they relocated to Calgary where he led the team as Maître d’ & Sommelier at The Belvedere Restaurant. Christopher was awarded Best Wine list in Calgary as well as Top Sommelier at the AGC Cooks competition.
Since moving to Vancouver in 2009, Christopher has spent the majority of his time with Hy’s of Canada Steakhouses as Sommelier & Restaurant Manager winning Gold and Platinum Wine List Awards for Gotham Steakhouse. Christopher is thrilled to lead the team at Piva Modern Italian.
