Davide Bonamici, Restaurant Director.
Hospitality-focused, dedicated to excellence, and highly knowledgeable are just a few terms most often used to describe me. Born and raised in Rome, Italy, I built a career in hospitality, working in every restaurant position, from cooking, to serving and ultimately landing management roles in fine dining establishment.
The strong entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to be part of a great concept, was at the base of joining the Piva Modern Italian Team.
My goal is to provide all the Piva’s lovers with a memorable experience, leaving them completely free to relax and enjoy the excellent food and atmosphere.
Subraaz Abdullah, Executive Chef.
I am the Executive Chef at Piva Modern Italian and have 25 years of culinary experience under my belt. I began my culinary career when I was 14-years-old and have been working in kitchens since. This path has led me to so many places and I have met so many amazing people, all of which have made me who I am today.
The thing I love most is when I can see people enjoying my food, it brings me a great sense of joy. I also love finding ways to put new spins on classic dishes. I feel incredibly bless to do what I love, and it truly is a dream come true to have the opportunity to bring my imagination to life through food and feeding people.
I really enjoy watching my team grow and mentoring the next generation of cooks. I am always looking for new recipes and researching new ways to bring incredible flavours from the kitchen to the table.
Eiichi Kohno, Sous Chef.
I was born and raised in the countryside of Tokyo, Japan. I started my culinary journey many years ago as a dishwasher and prep cook at a small Japanese bistro while I was still in high school. My passion for cooking, and my culinary skills elevated, when I began working with experienced chefs at various well-known restaurants in Tokyo.
I moved to Canada 15 years ago and have been working at fine dining restaurants, bistros and cafés in Calgary and Greater Vancouver since I arrived.
I joined the incredible Piva team in 2018 and have been supporting Executive Chef Subraaz and the BOH (back of house) since then. I love cooking and seeing people enjoying what I’ve prepared – that’s what makes me happiest and what I love most about working in the restaurant.
